Adam any hints on when new work is coming? I see we have around 100 old WU still in the field. Are we waiting for all the last WU in the last batch to finish? Any hints welcome.

Hi B-Man, work in this project is in waves, there is time about two or three weeks with work and the same without work and it is normal for this project. Sometimes is project waiting for last WU in batch sometimes not. It is good to combine your crunching with other project.

It's never or rarely that we're waiting for the last jobs of a particular batch; but usually I don't know when the next jobs are coming.

I know the work comes in waves. I seem to have become the unofficial Lattice project watcher for team Ars Technica and I had a few people ask if anything was coming. In part this was because a few were about to make a major push on another project. They are also trying to do a push on Lattice. I said I would ask.

edit
JHAPA thank you for the time you took to reply. I keep telling the folks on my team that the forums here have some of the fastest help and answers to questions about the project. I also tell them that Adam is also real good about responding to problems encountered.

Hi B-Man, thanks for your words, if you are "watching" for new WUs, my opinion for this project is, that my compies have not full buffer of WUs, because if is work, so i work for Lattice and my compies have reserve to get new WUs. Another problem is with memory (from 700MB to 1GB RAM for one WU), so some my compies are not able to count two (or more) Lattice in the same time, so i used another project to count with Lattice.

Yes, I know at least one user will submit ~5000 WUs soon.

I was lucky enough to snag a GARLI WU today.

I was lucky enough to snag a GARLI WU today.

I hope it works for you. The GARLI science app is now a new version and it has not been working for windows/linux/mac OSX at all today.

Just bumping the original thread question again. Adam any work coming? I know it come in bursts.

Did the last batch work out after the fun with the bad science apps?

Any updates would be nice.

No idea on the new work, sorry. Semester's just getting going so once folks have some meetings they'll probably decide on some new analyses to run. All I can say is thanks for waiting & wondering...

I just noticed that the Results in progress went from 17 to 237, but I did not see any Results ready to send. What changed.

A small amount of work was sent out... that's all, really.

I noticed a few days (perhaps a week) ago that the number of tasks got stuck at 17. Were these last 17 bad WUs?

Sort of beginning to feel like Moses these days: tending sheep until the call comes to start work! :-)

Hmm, not sure on the bad workunits - just assumed they were stragglers. I'll keep an eye on it, it's always possible.

I check the site several times a week looking for work and/or news. Anything happening in the near future: new work, new applications.

Well... once we open up our portal to more people, I can expect more jobs to be flowing into the BOINC pool. Also, I'll be releasing a benchmark workunit to everyone some time soon. Finally, eventually, we'll have a full-on GPU-enabled version of GARLI out here... it's all coming, so hang tight.
